I'm often confused why it's so hard to make a great, let alone good game. It feels like there must be some sort of universal law, actively dumbing down and obfuscating proven methods and tactics.

on the topic of your thoughts on the last palace in royal,, the phantom thieves dont just go after maruki cause he was 'running from his trauma" i have genuinely never even heard of that interpretation. he clearly just wasnt a guy who should have that power (not that any human should. gods and humans should remain in their respective places, imo) for instance, have you seen the missed deadline ending for his palace? he puts joker to sleep forever because he thought joker was getting too stressed over having to decide to fight him or not. hes not just running from his trauma hes totally irresponsible and thinks that he knows whats best for everyone when he cant even comprehend the concept of a nuanced situation. Was seeing what he did to sumire not reason enough? or how about the fact that in the 3rd semester, the bond you created with your teammates gets thrown out the window since they cant even remember how you actually met. he misuses the information he gets as a counselor to pry into peoples lives and brainwash them according to what he thinks would make them happiest, without ever getting their opinion on it. you cant (or at least shouldnt) force anyone to take your help. if you stayed in that reality, there was no guarantee that he'd consistently make the best choices for you and literally everyone else in the world because there were already multiple examples of him not doing so. and if it came to that, you would have no way to fight back. hes simply not a good person, so hes obviously also not a good god. rest of the vid was heat tho

I love that I have never heard of this game till today. I played the originals so I am glad I have never heard of this game and wasted my money.

Enjoying the video like usual. :) Somebody probably already mention this but all Gammel Dansk means is “Old Danish.” So basically they just names the characters “Old So-and-So.” I’m Swedish-American but thankfully there’s a ton of cognates and near cognates between Swedish, Danish and Norwegian.

World aside (it still has same themes as the rest of the series, except presented even worse than in other games for some reason), human influence on environment is a somewhat elaborated in supplement material, random npc dialogue and weapon description. Guild takes all shots. It makes sure that ecology isn't disturbed too much. For every hunt notice posted it evaluates - "is helping human settlement outweighs potential ecological disruption? Or maybe ecology is already disrupted and that Zinogre should be removed even without clien't request?". If the ecology is disrupted by someone outside of guild too much - the guild has special kind of monster hunters, and, if simple poachers end up in jail - more influential ecology disrupturs wake up from misterious barrell bomb explosion (how did it got there?) And the consequences of not taking care of environment is shown via dead civilization and dramatised Fatalis story.

I hated what they did with XC2 so much that I simply dropped the entire series, I don't expect XC3 to be actually good when they dropped the excellent XC1 combat system for... whatever that's supposed to be.

Good stewardship of the environment is a positive message and all, but the last thing we need is for the series to be injected with the same alarmism about "the future of the species" as that of the crowd that has, over the course of decades, warned of doomsday scenarios that never came to pass with their failed predictions.

Y'know, I have a weird relationship with Vanillaware games, because while I think they're beautiful and unique and worth checking out... I also tend to find them really repetitive. It frequently happens just as you said, I play them for a few hours and then just disconnect, having the sensation that I got everything that I could get from the game. However, as it happens when I watch your content, this video gave me some incentive to try again and see things through a new perspective. Hell, I had to try Vagrant Story four freaking times before it became one of my favorite games ever, just to give an example. I'm well aware of the concept of "acquired taste", and maybe this is a similar case. Anyway, thank you again, K-Man. You keep consistently being one of the best in this platform IMHO. Keep it up.

I agree some of male ring-rite options are more explicit, but not by much. Really nice video to one of my favorite fighting game series that’s not based on pre-existing comic book characters (Marvel vs Capcom), Anime characters (DragonBall Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, Sailor Moon) or Nintendo characters (Smash Bros)…..DEFINITELY my favorite true fighting game series when compared to Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, all those….. If you make a follow up, try to cover the portable games, the ones on the NeoGeoPocket Color are superb!! Well, technically there’s a release on the regular NGPocket, and the second was released on the NGPocket Color……the 2 GameBoy games are neat too, especially the Japan exclusive Samurai Shodown 3….Part 1 for the GameBoy was always noteworthy to me, it’s possibly the weakest of the early 2D entries, but it’s the ONLY game so far that lets you play as that Mail Courier haha…..The NGPocket games are really good and the GameBoy games are worth playing. I feel like all 4 mentioned games had more focus on special moves…it’s like I can play the arcade series and rarely use a special, but when I play any of the portable games I use special moves quite a bit…it’s weird how similar they are, yet how different they feel…it’s unfortunate those games aren’t as easily accessible to competitive play

I actually enjoyed the combat from xenosaga 2. It had a nice level difficulty curve to it. was it perfect. Heck no. Was it fun. Heck yes.

They really did S&M dirtiest. First act they do technically try and kill two children to make them quiet. No way they thought if they beat and set them on fire just enough they’d forget what they heard. Should have made Isaac the first to swing considering they just admitted to killing his father.

I’m morally obligated to second that 13 Sentinels is a must play. It is truly incredible with a story so tightly constructed that every seemingly little innocuous detail is actually extremely well thought out and likely plot critical - even the horny bits are actually running off amusingly rational world building.
